DIVING IN RAJA AMPAT
Raja Ampat is one of the most biodiverse marine regions on the planet, home to over 1,400 species of fish and more than 600 types of hard coral—around 75% of all known coral species worldwide. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a curious beginner, Wai Island offers direct access to this extraordinary underwater world.
Start your adventure right from the shore. The island’s healthy house reef surrounds Wai with vibrant coral gardens, teeming with reef fish, macro life, and fascinating marine creatures. From the iconic clownfish and colorful nudibranchs to octopus, cuttlefish, and even the elusive wobbegong and epaulette (walking) sharks, there’s something to discover on every dive.
Wai Island is also home to the famous “Airplane Wreck,” a World War II P-47D Thunderbolt fighter that rests just offshore—an unforgettable dive for history and wreck enthusiasts.
